The All Progressives Congress (APC) has won all 17 chairmanship seats in the Yobe State local government elections held on Saturday, September 26, 2026.
The Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission (YOSIEC) announced the results on Sunday in Damaturu, the state capital.
YOSIEC Chairman Dr. Ibrahim Yabani said the election was conducted across the state’s 17 local government areas and 178 electoral wards, with 10 political parties participating.
According to the commission, the APC also won 176 of the 178 councillorship seats. The Action Peoples Party (APP) won one councillorship seat in Fune, while the Action Democratic Party (ADP) secured one in Karasuwa.
Yabani said votes were counted and collated after voting, with councillorship results declared at ward level and chairmanship results announced at the respective local government collation centres.
The APC chairmanship winners included Musa Kalan Dagona in Bade with 54,312 votes; Bukar Adamu in Damaturu with 18,465; Abdulmumini Usaini in Fika with 61,326; Baba Goni Bade in Fune with 74,411; and Salisu Muktari in Potiskum with 58,705 votes.
Other winners were Mohammed Musa in Geidam, Dala Mala in Gujba, Dayyabu Ilu in Gulani, Umaru Aguwa Jakusko in Jakusko, Umara Mohammed in Karasuwa, Idriss Mai Bukar in Machina, Samaila Musa in Nangere, Mohammed Ahmed Mairami in Nguru, Mohammed Lamido Musa Tarmuwa in Tarmuwa, Zanna Zakariya in Yunusari, and Adam Jibrin in Yusufari.
Yabani described the election as successful and said the commission would continue with the necessary processes arising from the exercise.
