Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has opened up about his biggest personal fear, losing relevance in the music industry without knowing when to step away.
In a recent video, the award-winning singer said it is unsettling to watch once-successful celebrities fall from grace, noting that fame can be fleeting even at the highest level.
Davido explained that the pressure to remain at the top inspired his desire to create a support system for former public figures. He said he would build a therapy centre dedicated to helping celebrities who struggle after losing fame.
“It’s crazy to be on top of the world and the next moment you are not,” he said. “That is my greatest fear. I have worked so hard and I don’t want to spoil it.”
Drawing comparisons with global sports figures, Davido cited the criticism faced by football icon Cristiano Ronaldo despite his achievements, saying it highlights how quickly public perception can shift.
The singer added that he constantly prays for the wisdom to recognize the right time to exit the spotlight.
