The All Progressives Congress (APC) has inaugurated its Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 general election, expressing confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s reforms and rallying political leaders from different parties to support his re-election.

The inauguration took place on Wednesday at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja, with Tinubu urging council members to mobilize voters nationwide while ensuring that campaign activities do not distract him from governance.
Among those present were Vice-President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda.
The event also featured Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party and Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), all of whom pledged support for Tinubu’s second-term bid.
Tinubu urged the council to deliver votes across their states, local government areas and wards, warning that members would be judged by electoral results. He also expressed support for state police and promised progress on proposed reserved seats for women in the National Assembly.
Shettima criticised opposition figures, including former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, questioning their economic proposals and comparisons with other countries.
Meanwhile, APC National Chairman Yilwatda urged campaign officials to communicate the administration’s achievements in infrastructure, energy, agriculture and digital connectivity while acknowledging areas where challenges remain.
However, Atiku’s camp criticised the expanded campaign council, arguing that a large political coalition could not erase the economic hardship facing Nigerians. Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde’s campaign organisation also faulted the council, citing insecurity, unemployment and rising living costs.
The APC said its campaign would focus on defending the administration’s reforms and explaining how its policies could improve Nigerians’ living conditions ahead of the 2027 election.
