The Anambra State Government has urged supporters of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to reject Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), in the 2027 general election.

The government made the call on Monday in a post on its official X account, managed by the New Media Office of Governor Charles Soludo.
In a message titled “A Betrayal Alert for Ndi APGA,” the government accused Obi, a former Anambra governor, of working against APGA since leaving the party in 2014.
“Since 2014, Obi has had one mission: to destroy the party that made him,” the government said, urging APGA supporters to “defend your home” and “resist the NDC.”
The state government also claimed that President Bola Tinubu had supported APGA while Obi backed opposition forces.
The comments come amid renewed political tensions between the Soludo administration and Obi ahead of the 2027 election.
Obi served as Anambra governor from 2006 to 2014 and left APGA for the Peoples Democratic Party in October 2014. He later contested the 2023 presidential election under the Labour Party before joining the NDC, which adopted him as its 2027 presidential candidate in May 2026.
APGA has also endorsed Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election, further widening the political divide between the party and Obi.
As of Monday, Obi and his representatives had not publicly responded to the Anambra government’s latest allegation.
