Katsina United have been ordered by FIFA to pay former coach Tony Tope Bulus N28 million over the wrongful termination of his contract or face a ban on registering new players.

The club was also fined $5,000 by FIFA for failing to comply with an earlier ruling in the contractual dispute.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) conveyed FIFA’s decision to Katsina United in a letter dated October 2, 2026, giving the club 15 days from receipt of the letter to make the payments and submit proof.
FIFA warned that continued non-compliance could result in further sanctions, including points deductions or relegation.
The dispute dates back to 2023, when Katsina United terminated Bulus’ employment contract. The former coach challenged the decision, eventually taking the matter to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
In its June 30, 2026, ruling in case CAS 2024/A/10789, CAS ordered Katsina United to pay Bulus N28 million in compensation for the wrongful termination of his contract.
After the club failed to settle the award, FIFA opened disciplinary proceedings in September and subsequently moved to enforce the CAS decision.
Katsina United chairman, Surajo Baba Malumfashi, declined to comment on the latest development, saying he was not aware of the letter.
