Katsina: Shettima to Launch Fund for 57,432 Women

Vice President Kashim Shettima will on Sunday launch the Nigeria for Women Program Scale-Up (NFWP-SU) in Katsina State, with 57,432 women expected to benefit from its Community Investment Fund (CIF).

The fund will initially target women in Daura and Funtua Local Government Areas, providing financial support aimed at expanding economic opportunities, strengthening livelihoods, and reducing poverty among vulnerable households.

Katsina State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Aisha Aminu Malumfashi, disclosed this at a press briefing ahead of the launch.

Under the program, beneficiaries will be organized into Women Affinity Groups (WAGs) to promote savings, improve access to financial and non-financial services, strengthen businesses, and connect women to markets.

Michael Ilesanmi, World Bank Senior Social Development Specialist and Task Team Leader for the program, said women aged 18 and above in participating communities are eligible, including persons with disabilities.

He said the affinity groups would also help women build networks and improve their access to financial, economic, and civic opportunities.

The World Bank-supported program is being implemented in partnership with the Katsina State Government. Governor Dikko Umar Radda’s administration has also expanded its broader women’s empowerment efforts across the state.
