World Bank Hails Katsina’s Community-Led Development Model

The World Bank has commended Katsina State for its community-driven development approach and coordination of development partners through the Katsina State Development Management Board (KTDMB).

The commendation followed a portfolio review meeting between Governor Radda and a World Bank delegation led by the Country Director for Nigeria, Mathew Verghis, at the Government House, Katsina.

Governor Radda reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to accountability, citizen participation, and effective use of development funds, assuring the bank that his government would address implementation challenges and ensure projects deliver measurable, sustainable benefits.

He said the state adopted a community-driven model that allows residents to identify their needs, participate in project implementation, and take ownership of development initiatives. The approach informed the establishment of the Community Development Programme and the strengthening of participatory budgeting at the ward level.

Governor Radda added that KTDMB coordinates development partners, aligns their interventions with government priorities, and reduces duplication of projects.

The World Bank delegation said the visit was to assess the progress, financial performance, and implementation of its supported programs in the state, including Investment Project Financing and Program-for-Results operations.

The team praised Katsina’s coordination of development partners and its community-led initiatives across education, agriculture, livelihoods, and social development. It also described the Community Development Programme and participatory budgeting as important tools for promoting accountability, local ownership, and sustainable development.

The meeting was attended by senior state government officials, including the Executive Director of KTDMB, Mustapha Shehu, and the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Aisha Aminu Malumfashi.
