Governor Radda Signs N828.58bn Katsina 2027 Budget Into Law

Katsina State Governor Radda has signed the state’s N828.58 billion 2027 Appropriation Bill into law, directing ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) to ensure timely implementation of projects and programs.

The budget, signed on Wednesday, September 30, provides N637.85 billion for capital expenditure and N190.73 billion for recurrent expenditure.

Governor Radda described the appropriation as a “people’s budget,” saying it was developed from needs assessments conducted across 361 wards in the state’s 34 local government areas.

He said the proposal underwent three stages of scrutiny, including grassroots consultations, defence by MDAs, and legislative consideration by the Katsina State House of Assembly.

Governor Radda commended the Assembly for the early passage of the budget and urged implementing agencies to ensure prompt execution, particularly of projects that directly affect residents.

The Speaker of the Assembly, Nasiru Yahaya Daura, said the House approved N190,726,262,820.44 for recurrent expenditure and N637,852,581,271.03 for capital expenditure.

Daura also said Governor Radda was the first governor in Nigeria to sign a 2027 budget into law. The Guardian similarly reported that Katsina became the first state to sign its 2027 budget.

The N828.58 billion approved budget is slightly lower than the N828.64 billion proposal earlier presented by Governor Radda to the Assembly in September.
