Several political associates and former allies of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai have returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and declared support for Governor Uba Sani ahead of the 2027 elections.
Those reportedly joining Sani’s camp include Bashir Saidu, El-Rufai’s former Chief of Staff; Abdu Kwari, a former commissioner and senator; Nasir Abdullahi Maikano, former Kaduna chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP); and Moukhtar Isa Hazo, a former Deputy Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly.
Other grassroots politicians across the state are also said to have joined the group.
A former Kaduna commissioner, Jafaru Ibrahim Sani, confirmed the development, saying the politicians had decided to move together.
“It’s true, we are going together with them,” he said.
The move comes amid shifting political alliances in Kaduna ahead of the 2027 elections and could strengthen Sani’s position within the APC.
El-Rufai, who governed Kaduna from 2015 to 2023, has had growing political differences with his successor, with several of his former associates becoming involved in the political realignment in the state.
