Portable Explains Ring Exit After Disqualification in Okocha Rematch

Street-pop singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has explained why he walked out of the ring during his celebrity boxing rematch against Nollywood actor Charles Okocha.

Portable was disqualified after leaving the ring before the end of the opening round in the bout tagged “Unfinished Business,” held at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

In a video posted on Instagram shortly after the fight, the singer alleged he was unfairly attacked, claiming Okocha resorted to wrestling instead of boxing. He also displayed injuries on his body, alleging he was bitten during the contest.

According to Portable, the altercation escalated after he had already dominated the fight. “He bit me and choked my neck. That’s why I left. I won’t fight again. I’m bigger than the money,” he said.

The match descended into a scuffle, with both fighters grappling as the referee struggled to maintain control. Security personnel later intervened to restore order.

Although Portable briefly returned to the ring, officials ruled him out for abandoning the fight, handing victory to Okocha.

The rematch followed a controversial first encounter, which Okocha had previously claimed was unfairly decided in Portable’s favor. Friday’s outcome marks a reversal, with Okocha emerging as the winner after Portable’s disqualification.
