Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued five relatives of the Chairman of Bungudu Local Government Area in Zamfara State, Nura Umar Abdullahi, after terrorists attacked his residence and abducted him.

The military said the victims, two of the chairman’s children, his wife, mother, and another relative, were freed after troops responded to gunfire and engaged the attackers in a shootout, forcing them to flee and abandon the family members.
However, the assailants escaped with the council chairman into nearby bushes.
The attack, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday, left three members of the chairman’s security detail, two police officers and a local vigilante, dead. A civilian was also killed, while the chairman’s elder brother, Bello Umar, sustained injuries.
Military authorities said a joint search-and-rescue operation involving the army, police, Department of State Services (DSS), and local vigilantes is underway to secure the chairman’s release.
The command assured residents that all necessary resources have been deployed and urged the public to remain calm and share credible information with security agencies.
