Arsenal are pushing to sign Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes, who has reportedly agreed to personal terms on a five-year contract with the Premier League champions.
According to reports, the Brazil international is keen on making the move this summer and is now awaiting an agreement between both clubs.
Arsenal’s initial offer of around €70 million was rejected by Newcastle, but the North London club are expected to return with an improved bid close to €80 million.
If the deal goes through, French side Lyon are set to receive approximately €6 million due to a sell-on clause included in Guimaraes’ transfer to Newcastle.
The Gunners have already strengthened their squad this window with the signings of Piero Hincapié and Illan Meslier as they continue preparations for the new season.
