Babcock University has announced plans to take legal action against Nigerian streamer Carter Efe over claims that he forged a university certificate.

The controversy began after Carter Efe, during an interview with Egungun of Lagos, stated that he graduated from the private institution with top honors. He later shared what he claimed to be his graduation certificate on the social media platform X, indicating he earned a biochemistry degree with a “First Class Upper.”
In a statement released on Sunday, Babcock University dismissed the claim as false, noting that it does not use the classification “First Class Upper.”
The institution also warned that it does not issue honorary certificates for undergraduate performance, describing any such document as fraudulent.
“Any document claiming otherwise is fraudulent and should be disregarded,” the university stated, urging the public to verify academic credentials through its Office of the Registrar.
The university added that it will pursue appropriate legal action against those responsible for the alleged forgery.
