The reinstated leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has invalidated all outcomes from the party’s recent primary elections, citing a subsisting court judgment that nullified earlier congresses in the state.

In a statement issued on Monday, the faction led by Emeka Beke said every decision, nomination, and official communication made under the previously recognised executives between December 20, 2024, and May 29, 2026, stands void.
The development follows a ruling by the Court of Appeal in Port Harcourt, which upheld an earlier High Court judgment that nullified the congresses that produced the rival leadership under Tony Okocha.
The primaries had earlier produced several candidates, including Kingsley Chinda, believed to be aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, after Governor Siminalayi Fubara withdrew from the contest.
Reacting to the judgment, the Beke-led faction maintained that individuals who conducted the primaries lacked legal authority to act on behalf of the party.
The group further urged the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission to withdraw certificates of return earlier issued to candidates from the disputed faction and recognise candidates it claimed were validly nominated.
It also called on the APC National Working Committee to urgently review all primary election processes conducted in the state to prevent a repeat of past legal setbacks experienced by the party in other states.
The statement warned that continued recognition of the disputed primaries could deepen divisions within the party and undermine its chances ahead of future elections.
