Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed retired Major-General Adeyinka Fadewa as Special Adviser on Homeland Security, as part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s internal security framework.

The appointment was announced on Monday through a circular signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume.
The circular, transmitted by the Permanent Secretary of the General Services Office, Dr Ibrahim Kana, stated that the appointment takes immediate effect.
According to the Presidency, Fadewa’s selection was based on his distinguished military career, strategic experience, and long-standing contributions to the country’s security architecture.
President Tinubu said the appointment underscores his administration’s determination to improve coordination among security institutions and enhance the country’s response to emerging threats.

He stressed the need for intelligence-driven operations and stronger inter-agency collaboration in tackling insecurity and protecting communities across the nation.
“His appointment demonstrates our commitment to building a more responsive and coordinated security framework,” the President said.
The new adviser is expected to play a key role in shaping policies aimed at improving homeland security and national stability.
