Opposition parties have held consultations with presidential candidates, including Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi and Seyi Makinde, as part of efforts to build a united front ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Salihu Moh. Lukman, a former All Progressives Congress (APC) national vice-chairman, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, October 14, on behalf of the coalition parties.
The consultations involved six parties: the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Social Democratic Party (SDP), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peoples Redemption Party (PRP).
Other figures involved were Prince Adewole Adebayo and Donald Duke.
Lukman said the discussions followed resolutions reached at the G100 Opposition Summit, which called for stronger cooperation among opposition parties to protect multiparty democracy and advance Nigerians’ interests.
He said the consultations were aimed at developing a framework for cooperation, identifying common priorities and agreeing on steps towards a shared democratic agenda.
The discussions are ongoing, and no agreement on a single opposition presidential candidate has been announced.
Lukman said further engagements would continue, adding that the coalition would inform Nigerians of any substantive decisions and agreed next steps.
