The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the distribution of non-sensitive election materials to some states ahead of the 2027 general elections.

INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, disclosed this on Tuesday in Abuja at a national stakeholders’ meeting marking 100 days to the elections.
Amupitan said the commission had moved from planning to full implementation of its preparations, with procurement, logistics, technology and infrastructure projects already underway.
He said production of 57,000 new Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) devices was advanced, while new operational vehicles were being delivered to state and local government offices nationwide.
The commission is also constructing dedicated BVAS storage facilities, renovating offices and installing solar power systems across its offices.
Amupitan said procurement for printing ballot papers and result sheets was nearing completion, while contracts for the required production and logistics had progressed.
He added that INEC was closely monitoring suppliers and contractors to ensure that all materials were delivered within the statutory timelines.
The 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections are scheduled for January 16, while the governorship and State Assembly elections will hold on February 6.
INEC also said the national register of voters has surpassed 103 million following the completion of the Continuous Voter Registration exercise.
