Massive floods and landslides have killed at least 160 people and left 403 others missing in northern Nepal, near the border with Tibet.
The disaster, which struck on Wednesday, devastated communities in Rasuwa District, burying buildings under mud and debris and cutting off major roads.
Nepal’s Ministry of Tourism said hundreds of tourists were among those missing, including 341 foreign nationals. The missing include 142 Indians and citizens of Australia, Britain, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Portugal, South Africa, South Korea and the United States.
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies said entire villages and market areas had been wiped out.
Emergency supplies, including blankets, first aid kits and stretchers, are being dispatched to support rescue and relief efforts.
